Nestled on the Croatian coastline, House Agave is a semi-detached stone house set in a Mediterranean garden of palms, agaves and oleander.

Inside, the rooms are whitewashed and calm, with beamed ceilings, soft linens and plenty of natural light. Outside, there is a garden terrace for long dinners and the clear Adriatic right below the house. It is an easy, unhurried place to spend a summer on Vis, one of the most unspoilt islands in Croatia.

Remote location

Milna is a small, peaceful bay on the south side of Vis, away from the busier harbours. Mornings start with a swim, evenings end on the terrace.

The house sits in a Mediterranean garden of palm trees, agaves and wildflowers, enclosed by old dry-stone walls.

Guests love the terrace for breakfast in the shade and late dinners under the stars. When it gets hot, the beach is just below the house, so a swimsuit is all you need. Bicycles at the house make it easy to explore the bays around Milna.

Milna, island of Vis

Vis is the most remote inhabited island of central Dalmatia. It was closed to foreign visitors until 1989, which is why it still feels so unspoilt today.

Milna is a small bay on the south-east coast, a short drive from Vis town and its ferry port. It is quiet, with clear water and a beach right below the house. From here you can reach the island's best coves, the vineyards of the interior, and the fishing town of Komiža on the other side of the island.

Where exactly is House Agave?

How close is the house to the beach?

Very close. The sea is right below the house, just a few steps from the garden gate, so a swimsuit and a towel are all you need.

Vis is connected to Split by a Jadrolinija car ferry, which takes around 2 hours 20 minutes, and by a faster passenger catamaran. Both arrive in Vis town. Split Airport is the closest airport. Check the current timetable before you travel, as the number of daily departures changes between seasons.

Do I need a car on Vis?

A car or scooter is the easiest way to explore, because the best beaches and villages are spread around the island. You can bring your car on the ferry from Split, or rent a car or scooter in Vis town.

When is the best time to visit Vis?

From June to September the sea is warm and the days are long. July and August are the busiest months. June and September are quieter, still warm, and great for swimming, hiking and wine tasting.

What is there to do near Milna on Vis?

Swim at the beach below the house, explore nearby bays such as Zaglav and Srebrna, visit the famous Stiniva cove, take a boat trip to the Blue Cave on Biševo from Komiža, taste local Vugava and Plavac Mali wines, and walk up Hum, the highest point of the island.
